That is such an incredible statement as written that I'm willing to believe the quote is missing a "pornographic" before the "manga". Which, though not that much better, would at least be consistent.

Some people who aren't familiar with manga think all manga is pornographic and/or violent - that that's part of its definition. I've seen various articles/quotes where it's obvious the author thinks this. So maybe Reid thinks this too.
