So I thought I'd recap the year, because this was a good use of the first few hours I was awake in 2010 :) Clearly, my first conclusion is that I need to update LJ more, because it's no use to me when doing these things! I should add that this recap is comic- and art-based, and leaving out things related to work etc are not because they're not important ^^;;

January - March

I think I started this year drawing Sun Fish Moon Fish issue 1 (Pilot Fish story), but as far as I'm concerned the year began with Minami in March, at which I released Ambient Rhythm (the first volume) and Sun Fish Moon Fish.

April - May

The next event on the list is Expo in May, but between Minami and Expo, I was working on a new ongoing comic, Patchwork Sky. That got put on hold for more Ambient Rhythm and a comic I've been working on with another writer, which we're hoping to get printed soon! And I started doing art for a friend's game, Mermaid Liaisons (a sequel to Elven Relations), which isn't out yet.
At Expo in May, Reya was released. Serge wrote it, I drew it (last year) and the lovely people at Markosia published it ^^ Heaviest book I have ever held - it doesn't look big, but it's dense! And the printing is lovely and shiny :)

June - August

After Expo, I finally finished off Patchwork Sky chapter 1, and then did a Looking for the Sun short to enter into the Jiman '09 competition, because with a theme like 'the sun', I couldn't resist it. I also did a few pictures for Cloud Fairy, a very short and cute game written by Alex :)

September - December

In September, I drew and printed Sun Fish Moon Fish 2, closely followed by Sun Fish Moon Fish 3 (Puffer Fish and Lyre Fish, in that order). In between, I did a short comic for Honeybadger, and designed and painted wedding invitations for my sister, both of which were great fun. The Sun Fish Moon Fishes came out for October Expo, after which I did chapter 2 of Patchwork Sky. That got interrupted by Ambient Rhythm, but I finished it on New Year's Eve :)

Next year - I want to do more Sun Fish Moon Fish and Patchwork Sky. I want to finish Ambient Rhythm. I want to get another webcomic started, of a different ilk to the three I've done so far, which should be fun. I'm hoping to do more Mermaid Liaisons art and finally see the game published ;) First, though, I have short stories from Serge to do, so I should probably get thumbnailing :D

On a slightly different and less pictorial note, I wondered about the last decade (which at least one person on my f'list has done). I'm a little worried about even remembering what I was doing, and I know I've missed out a lot of stuff and people, but here goes...

2000: My last year as an undergrad; I graduated and started a Diploma in Computer Science (a one year course).
2001: I finished the diploma, decided I liked biology better and started a PhD. Serge and I bought a flat in preparation for...
2002: We got married ^^ Serge moved jobs. I started my first webcomic, Phoenix Feathers. We acquired two cats, Murphy and Ellie.
2003: I started Looking for the Sun, and also drew a one off story, Concerning Research (which had been written in 1999 or thereabouts by Serge and Mike, a mutual friend). Ellie ran away during a storm, and Murphy died after being hit by a car later in the year :( We acquired Pixel.
2004: I went over my PhD funding time limit so started a job working for Lucy Cavendish college, as a weekend night porter (read: night guard/secretary/phone answerer etc), as a result of which I met the lovely Carol. I also joined Sweatdrop Studios, and met lots of awesome people!
2005: I finished my PhD, one year over schedule, submitted it, had my viva and job searched while still doing the night porter job. I also finished Phoenix Feathers and started Artifaxis. I spent a little while working for BioWisdom in Harston. I did the art for Alex's first ren'ai game, When I Rule the World.
2006: I started a maternity cover job working for Karen Steel's team in the Sanger Institute in Hinxton. My paternal grandmother died late in the year. I won a prize for my character Emmeline at IMAF 2006, and placed as a runner-up in Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga UK & Ireland 2006 competition ^^
2007: I became a Postdoc in the same place, thanks to the person for whom I was covering deciding she wanted to be a full-time mum. My pet snake Cinnamon died aged ten. I finished Artifaxis and started Ambient Rhythm. I also finished Looking for the Sun. I did some work for Alex's game Elven Relations. We moved to a lovely house in the north of Cambridge and set about filling the extra space with more books.
2008: I drew Reya, which was picked up by Markosia :)
2009: My paper was published! I started a load of comics, did some collaborations and stuff, most of which is detailed above :)

So - well done for reading this far, if you have, and thank you to everyone who's made 2009 and the last ten years so memorable - I've met so many lovely people, I'm sorry I can't name everyone! Here's to a happy and prosperous New Year and new decade, and may this year bring you all that you need and more than you had ever dreamed ^^

It occurred to me after posting all that that I haven't mentioned God at all. That's not because I think he's not important, or because things haven't changed in my relationship with him. It's partly because I'm aware most people who read this aren't interested and and don't want to read about God, but mainly for a similar reason that I don't talk about Serge very much (and that's not just because it's a shared LJ!). Both my God and my husband, and my relationships with them, are very close to my heart and not something I willingly talk about in public, and LJ is very public. However, I am aware that everything I have, and everything I enjoy, is from God, and everything I have found difficult, I have gone through on his strength alone. And for the year and the decade ahead, I trust in him and his promise, which he has kept faithfully all my life thus far, to never leave me nor forsake me, to be sufficient for my every need.

My the works of my hands, the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, oh Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

It was very interesting to read, after reading all these you realise how much people change in only 10 years!
I think meeting you was one of the highlights of the decade, it sounds really cheesy, but you and Serges outstanding generosity and kindness has left an impact on me, I strive to be as generous as you guys are :)
